Dr. Darren Asuncion is the Principal General Practitioner at Surrey Street Family Clinic. Originally from the Philippines, Darren moved to Australia at an early age and he completed his primary and secondary education in Melbourne’s South East.

With a strong interest in healthcare, Darren was accepted into Monash University and completed his medical training in 2004.

His medical residency took him to the Mornington Peninsula where he trained predominantly at Frankston Hospital and completed clinical rotations in Rye, Dromana, Mornington and Somerville. Darren was granted Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2009 and due to his love of the Peninsula lifestyle decided to call Mount Eliza his home.

From 2009 to 2015 Darren worked at Eramosa Family Medical Centre in Somerville establishing himself as a dedicated general practitioner with a passion for family health, preventative medicine and paediatrics. Feeling the need to create a more patient-centred healthcare environment, Darren founded Surrey Street Family Clinic with a vision to change the traditional look and feel of primary patient care without compromising on the quality of services delivered.

In his personal life Darren is a sports fanatic with a particular interest in basketball and golf, which is another reason why he fell in love with the Mornington Peninsula. Darren is married and has a 4-year-old cheeky daughter with an obsession for all things “princess” related. Darren also loves the company of his pets – Lychee and Apollo (two very proud Chow Chows) and Dezzy (his 14-year-old feline friend).

Bianca was born and raised in the small rural town of Yarram Victoria and had a treasured childhood riding horses, bushwalking and camping with her family. She moved to Melbourne in 1997 to study Medicine at Monash University. She completed her degree in 2003.

Bianca started her career as a doctor at the Alfred Hospital, completing her residency in 2005. Bianca then worked as a locum doctor in emergency medicine for three years in various rural and interstate hospitals. This allowed her the time and flexibility to travel abroad to many amazing places. Bianca returned home to complete her paediatric training at Mildura Hospital before embarking on a career in General Practice.

Since 2009 Bianca has worked at the Eramosa Family Medical Centre where she developed a particular interest in paediatrics, travel medicine, migraine management and minor procedures. She was granted Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2011. Bianca prides herself on being a thorough clinician. She feels honoured that since moving to the Peninsula, her patients have trusted her with their health and wellbeing. She is excited to join the team at Surrey Street Clinic where she can continue to provide quality care to the residents of the Mornington Peninsula.

On a personal note, Bianca is married and mother to two strapping young boys who take after their father who is a martial arts instructor. She also has two adopted “fur-kids” in the form of greyhound shaped couch potatoes. She enjoys walking her dogs, photography, drawing and travelling.

Dr. Rebecca Jung has joined Surrey Street Family Clinic with a wealth of experience in emergency medicine, women’s health, sexual health and paediatrics. Rebecca continues to work at The Epworth emergency department.

Rebecca grew up in Albury, Wodonga before moving to Melbourne in 1996 to study Medicine at Monash University.

Rebecca completed her medical degree in 2002 and commenced residency at The Alfred Hospital. Since this time she has had experience working in many city, rural and remote hospitals. Rebecca was granted Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2010.

Rebecca is committed to providing quality health care to the local community. She has previously worked on the Peninsula, spending 5 years at Eramosa Family Clinic in Somerville. In 2015, Rebecca decided to move to the Peninsula and we are privileged to welcome her to the team at Surrey Street Family Clinic.

In her personal life, Rebecca is married and has 2 young kids. Rebecca loves good food – both cooking and eating with her loved ones. She places great importance on a healthy lifestyle and loves to exercise and stay fit. Rebecca also loves to travel, and being married to a Mexican, has a good excuse to get away to Mexico when she can!

Dr Emily Hart-Davies joins Surrey Street Family Clinic with a particular interest in Breastfeeding Medicine and helping women to achieve their breastfeeding goals, what ever they may be. She is passionate about working with families to find a solution that works for them and supporting them through the many challenges that can come in early parenthood. Emily also enjoys working in women’s health and Paediatrics, having been awarded a Diploma in Child Health.

Emily has lived on the Mornington Peninsula for many years and studied Medicine at Monash University before graduating in 2010. She completed her internship at Monash Hospital before moving to Mount Isa in north western QLD to complete her residency. Emily has been back on the Peninsula since 2013 completing her General Practice training in Somerville, Hastings and now Mornington. Emily has also been involved in teaching medical students at Monash University which she has found very rewarding.

At home, Emily enjoys reading, camping and travelling. She spent some of 2009 backpacking around South America before coming home to finish her medical studies. Since then she has spent a lot of time exploring Australia with her partner and two young children. They love the beauty and wide open spaces of the Australian outback and look forward to the next big trip up the West coast sometime in the near future!
