Dr. Mrin Nayagam
Dr Mrin Nayagam is a general practitioner with 25 years’ experience in providing health care in the Mornington Peninsula.
She worked at the Humphries Road Clinic, Frankston, for 4 years and at the Village Clinic, Mount Eliza, for the past 21years as Practice Principal.
Mrin qualified as doctor in Sri Lanka and travelled to UK with her husband Prakash, also a doctor, where they both completed the British Specialist MRCP examinations. After 10 years of work in London and Brighton, England, the family, now with 2 sons, migrated to Australia in 1990 and made their home in Mount Eliza. Today Mrin and Prakash are devoted grandparents to their two grandchildren and are looking forward to the second family wedding in 2020.
Mrin was the inaugural Chair of the Women in General Practice Committee in Victoria and served on the board of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners for 5 years. She was awarded the undergraduate (4th year) teaching excellence award, from the Department of General Practice, Monash University in 2014,2015, and 2017.
She is the founding Director of the Silver Linings Charitable Trust-a not for profit Registered Charity where her work is pro bono and a 100% funds raised is donated to assist the financially disadvantaged in our local area.
When not at work, Mrin loves to travel with her husband, spending time with her family and is fulfilling her long held desire to learn to play the piano. She keeps fit by walking, and is a passionate Magpie supporter.
She is looking forward to joining Darren and his team at SSFC in January 2020.
